What started as a desire to help landowners and hunters achieve greater levels of success has morphed into North Wind Outdoors, a brand dedicated to promoting habitat restoration and enhancement, ecologically sound land management, and spending time outdoors. Whether your passion is hunting, fishing, foraging, or simply spending time in nature, you’ll find something for you with North Wind Outdoors.
My name is Ryan Rothstein, owner of North Wind Outdoors, and if you’re looking for help with your habitat, I’m your guy.
From the moment I could walk, I’ve been obsessed with white-tailed deer. After my grandpa took me out deer hunting for the first time at the age of six, I was hooked. This obsession is what led me down the path to a career in wildlife management and ecology.
After receiving my B.A. in Biology from Minnesota State University Moorhead, I packed my bags and moved across the country to Kingsville, Texas, to chase my dreams of being a biologist.
While there, I worked on an expansive white-tailed deer research project under the guidance of three of the top deer researchers in the country. These guys literally wrote the book on deer management.
My studies focused on antler growth and tracking buck movements during the rut. This is when I began to truly “understand” deer and what makes them tick. I also saw firsthand how Texans go about deer management. Along the way, I found my true passion in habitat restoration and management.
I graduated in 2018 from the world-renowned Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University – Kingsville with a Master of Science in Wildlife Management.
Since then, I’ve made it my mission to restore and enhance as much native habitat as humanly possible. By working with private landowners and non-profit organizations, I create and lay out ecologically sound habitat management plans to achieve specific goals. I work with contractors to install and manage everything from large wetland restorations to small-scale food plots. No matter your objective, your satisfaction is my top priority.
My passion is helping other people reach their goals – whether it’s killing the buck of a lifetime or creating a rainbow of pollinator habitat to benefit our smallest friends. There’s no bigger satisfaction for me than seeing the results of a successful habitat project.
Along my winding journey, I’ve hunted deer, ducks, and turkeys in ten different states across a vast spectrum of habitats, from semi-arid shrublands to northern boreal forests. If I’m not hunting deer, I’m scouting for next season or working on a pollinator project somewhere. Thanks for visiting, and I’m looking forward to working with you.
